Adventure
The least crowded island in San Blas, with the best light in the archipelago for your photos—and without the crowds you’ll find on other tours.
Isla Aguja gets far fewer visitors than the better-known islands, which makes it the choice for people after clean photographs with nobody in the background: a strip of palms, white sand and the water in several shades of turquoise depending on the depth. Free time to explore and shoot before closing in the Natural Pool.
The island's long, narrow shape is what makes it work photographically: you walk it end to end in a few minutes and the background changes along the way, so it gives you plenty without moving the boat. Arrival around 8:30, lunch at 12:30 and the Natural Pool at 15:30.
Pickup from 5:00 am at your hotel, door-to-door 4x4 and about two and a half hours of road. Includes boat with life jackets, a typical lunch and a local guide; the comarca fee is separate, paid the same day, in cash or by card to the driver. Bring a dry bag: the boat throws spray.
Great if you travel with a camera and people in the background bother you.
Maybe not your tour if you came for reef snorkelling: the strength here is the sand and the light.
4x4 tour departing from Panama City.
Free time to explore and take photos, without the crowds.
Fresh food on the island.
One last swim, then back to the city.
