Adventure
Our Guna Explorer’s cultural immersion, condensed into a single day: a glimpse into the real life of the Guna community on Miryadup Island.
Miryadup is one of the central stops on our multi-day Guna Explorer, now available as a single day for travellers with less time who still want a real cultural experience rather than only beach. You walk through the community, see how they live and buy molas directly from the people who make them.
The mola is Guna textile art, sewn by hand in layers; buying one on the island, from the woman who made it, is nothing like buying it in a city shop. That is the point of this route. Arrival at 8:30, lunch at 12:30 and the closing swim in the Natural Pool at 15:00.
We leave your hotel at 5:00 am by 4x4 and cross the range to the port, roughly two and a half hours of curves. The boat with life jackets, the island lunch and the local guide are included; the comarca fee is settled on arrival, in cash or by card to the driver.
Great if you wanted the Guna Explorer but only have one day free.
Maybe not your tour if your plan is swimming: a good part of this day is spent on land.
4x4 trip from Panama City to Guna Yala.
A Tour of the Community: Molas, History, and Daily Life Among the Guna People.
Fresh food shared with the community.
One last swim, then back to the city.
